Originally built in 1950 as an auto body shop and most recently a beloved art gallery, this unique space retains its raw, authentic character—including the subtle, colorful splatters of paint on the floors that tell a story all their own. Today, this 2-bed 1-bath retreat blends industrial charm with modern comfort in a gallery-inspired layout.

Step inside to find a spacious open-concept living area with a full kitchen, dining area, and lounge for gathering. A spiral staircase leads to a cozy loft office—perfect for reading, writing, or remote work.

Both bedrooms sit at the back of the home for quiet privacy. The primary suite features a king bed and private deck overlooking the expansive lawn and gardens, while the second bedroom offers a queen bed. Please note: the second bedroom is a true loft space - its walls are open at the top to the great room/living area below, so it is not fully sound- or sight-isolated. The full bathroom includes a washer and dryer for added convenience. Please note: this is the downstairs unit of a two-unit property. A separate apartment is located upstairs and may be occupied by other renters during your stay.

Outdoors, nearly 2 acres of landscaped grounds invite relaxation. Multiple decks and shaded nooks create the perfect backdrop for morning coffee or al fresco dinners under the trees. This unit has its own private fire pit area in the backyard, closest to the house. A gas grill, also located near the house, is shared with the apartment upstairs.

Centrally located on Blue Star Highway, you’re just 2 minutes to downtown Saugatuck, 3 minutes to downtown Douglas and under 10 minutes to Oval Beach. Wineries, galleries, restaurants, and Lake Michigan’s shoreline are all within easy reach—making The Gallery Loft a distinctive and inspiring base to explore the best of the Art Coast.

The property is pet-friendly, we just ask that you please pets off furniture and clean up after them in the yard.

You will enjoy full and private access to the entire apartment during your stay. The house has keyless entry and we'll send you the code the day before your arrival. Just minutes from downtown Douglas and Saugatuck, you’ll find an abundance of galleries, boutiques, and restaurants showcasing the area’s vibrant culture. Oval Beach and Lake Michigan’s dunes are a short drive away, while nearby wineries, breweries, and farm stands highlight West Michigan’s local flavor.

The Gallery Loft is conveniently located right on Blue Star Highway, making it easy to reach all the highlights of the Saugatuck–Douglas area. Downtown Saugatuck is just one mile away and Douglas is a quick 3-minute drive. Oval Beach and Lake Michigan are under 10 minutes by car. While you’ll want a vehicle for the most flexibility, rideshares and local taxis are available, and many guests enjoy biking or walking into town.
