About the property
Originally built in 1871, the farmhouse has been gently updated to preserve its soul while enhancing comfort and convenience. Its original character reveals itself in every corner—from the creak of old floorboards to the abundance of natural light that fills the space. The upstairs primary suite offers a quiet sanctuary with its own private bath, tucked beneath the eaves in a space that feels both cozy and expansive. Two additional bedrooms are located on the main floor, thoughtfully arranged to accommodate guests, children, or those looking for a peaceful place to work remotely. A full shared bathroom on the main floor maintains the home's simple, welcoming feel. The heart of the home is the spacious kitchen and adjoining dining area—an ideal gathering place for slow breakfasts, evening meals, or heartfelt conversations that linger long into the night. The kitchen comes fully stocked, making it easy to prepare anything from morning pancakes to a lakeside picnic lunch. Perhaps the most beloved corner of the house is the screened-in sunroom. This light-filled space captures the spirit of the farmhouse—quiet, restorative, and deeply inviting. It’s the perfect place to start your day with a warm mug in hand or to toast the golden hour with a glass of wine and good company. Step outside and you’ll find a fully fenced backyard where your pups can roam freely while you relax beside the fire pit or cook under the open sky on the grill. Surrounded by trees and the sounds of nature, it’s a place made for memory-making—roasting s’mores, telling stories, and enjoying the simple pleasures of outdoor living. Great location!
We stay in the area once a year and this is the first time at this lovely home. The personal touches were just great. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed as well as coffee beans and a grinder to make fresh coffee. It was great to have a fully fenced yard for our mini-schnauzers. We have no complaints.
We loved our stay in Douglas! Charming, very comfortable house, great walkable location, friendly cute town. Nice fenced in yard for our dog. Also walkable to Saugatuck- longer walk, but easy! This was the perfect relaxing getaway.
